Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to travel to Washington on Wednesday for a high-level meeting with US President Donald Trump, with Iran’s nuclear program and regional security expected to dominate discussions, according to an official statement from Netanyahu’s office.

The meeting comes at a sensitive moment as the United States and Iran recently held indirect nuclear talks in Muscat, Oman. Officials from both sides described the dialogue as constructive, with expectations of further negotiations in the near future.

Sources familiar with the talks said Iran emphasized its right to enrich uranium during discussions with US intermediaries. Tehran reportedly made it clear that its ballistic missile program was not part of the negotiations and would not be open for discussion.

Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that missile capabilities are a matter of national defense and remain off the negotiating table. They have also called for international recognition of Iran’s uranium enrichment rights under existing agreements.

Meanwhile, Israel has voiced strong concerns over Iran’s military capabilities. Netanyahu’s office stated that Israel believes any agreement with Tehran must address restrictions on ballistic missiles and curb Iran’s support for allied armed groups across the Middle East.

The upcoming Netanyahu-Trump meeting is expected to highlight growing regional tensions as diplomatic efforts continue alongside military posturing in the Gulf. Analysts say the talks could influence the direction of future US-Iran negotiations and Israel’s security strategy in the region.
