Indian Army Chief Warns Pakistan: May Conflict Was “Only a Trailer”, Says Forces Fully Prepared
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday issued a sharp warning to Pakistan, stating that the brief May 2025 conflict was merely a “trailer” and not the full picture of India’s military capabilities.
His remarks were made just a week after a deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, the first such incident in the capital since 2011, claiming 12 lives.
Speaking at a defence conference in New Delhi, Gen Dwivedi said:
“The movie hasn’t even started — only a trailer was shown. And after the trailer, it ended in 88 hours. We are fully prepared for the future. If Pakistan gives us a chance, we will teach them how responsible nations behave with their neighbours.”
Background: The May Conflict
The May escalation began after an attack on tourists in India-occupied Kashmir, which New Delhi quickly linked to Pakistan without presenting evidence. Pakistan denied involvement and demanded a neutral investigation.
India then launched airstrikes in Punjab and Azad Kashmir on May 7, triggering retaliatory strikes by Pakistan. The confrontation lasted four days until U.S. intervention on May 10 led to a ceasefire.
Delhi Blast Suspect Brought to Court
Meanwhile, investigations into the November 10 suicide bombing near Red Fort are underway. The NIA presented suspect Amir Rashid Ali in a New Delhi court under heavy security. He is one of two men accused of being involved in the attack.
According to the NIA, Ali allegedly conspired with the suspected suicide bomber Umarun Nabi to execute the blast. Nabi was reportedly a medical professor in Haryana, while Ali is accused of assisting in the purchase of the vehicle used as an IED.
Officials have yet to share details on the motives or any organisational links behind the suspects. The Indian government has labelled the incident a terrorist attack, with PM Narendra Modi vowing strict action.
