The US military confirmed the loss of a KC-135 refueling aircraft over Iraq during Operation Epic Fury.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Thursday that a Boeing KC‑135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft was lost while operating in the skies over Iraq.

According to an official statement, the incident occurred in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury, a military mission currently being conducted in the region.

Two Aircraft Involved

CENTCOM reported that two aircraft were involved in the incident. One of the planes went down in western Iraq, while the second aircraft landed safely.

Military officials have launched search and rescue operations to locate and assist the crew of the downed aircraft.

No Enemy Attack Involved

The US military emphasized that the incident was not caused by hostile fire or friendly fire, indicating that enemy forces were not responsible for the aircraft’s loss.

Investigations into the cause of the incident are expected to continue as rescue teams work in the area.

Rescue Efforts Underway

Authorities said that emergency response teams are actively carrying out rescue efforts following the crash. Further updates about the crew and the cause of the incident are expected once the situation becomes clearer.

The KC-135 Stratotanker is a key aircraft used by the US military for air-to-air refueling, allowing fighter jets and other military aircraft to remain airborne for extended missions.
