Syrian delegation arriving in Paris for US-mediated talks with Israeli officials

A Syrian delegation led by Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani and General Intelligence Director Hussein al-Salama has entered a new round of negotiations with Israeli officials in Paris, according to Syria’s state news agency SANA. The talks are being held under the coordination and mediation of the United States.

A Syrian government source told SANA on Monday that the resumption of negotiations underscores Damascus’s firm commitment to restoring what it described as Syria’s non-negotiable national rights.

The talks come amid heightened tensions following Israel’s expansion of its military presence in Syrian territory beyond the occupied Golan Heights. Since the fall of longtime Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, Israel has carried out repeated raids and airstrikes in southern Syria.

Israeli forces have reportedly conducted near-daily incursions in recent months, particularly in the Quneitra governorate, involving arrests, the establishment of checkpoints, and the destruction of land. These actions have fueled growing public anger and unrest in affected areas.
