Rawalpindi: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s military leadership met on Monday to discuss ways to enhance their longstanding strategic cooperation, with a focus on defence, security, and counter-terrorism efforts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

The meeting was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi between Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir and Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Saudi Armed Forces, General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al Rowaili.

According to ISPR, both leaders explored matters of mutual interest and emphasized strengthening defence collaboration, security cooperation, and counter-terrorism initiatives as core pillars of the Pakistan-Saudi relationship. The discussion also covered ways to deepen engagement between the armed forces of the two countries in response to evolving regional and global security dynamics.

General Fayyadh lauded Pakistan’s support in various military and defence sectors and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering strong bilateral ties. Upon arrival at GHQ, he laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and was received with a Guard of Honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Army.

The Saudi general later met Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at the Joint Staff Headquarters. The meeting highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity and protecting Harmain al-Sharifain.

This high-level engagement underscores the deep-rooted strategic relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, reflecting both countries’ shared vision for regional stability, enhanced military cooperation, and counter-terrorism collaboration.
