Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurates New Production Lines at Nashik: India Targets 100% Indigenous Defence Manufacturing

Nashik, Maharashtra — October 27, 2025:
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated several new production lines at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility in Nashik, marking another major step toward India’s goal of achieving complete self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Speaking at the event, the Defence Minister highlighted that India now manufactures nearly 65% of its defence hardware domestically, significantly reducing dependence on imports. He emphasized that the government aims to achieve 100% indigenisation in the coming years by strengthening local defence industries, research, and innovation.

“The era of import dependency is over. India is now a trusted global defence manufacturer, contributing not only to national security but also to international stability,” said Singh during his address.

The new production lines at HAL Nashik are expected to boost the manufacturing capacity for advanced aircraft components and engines, as well as enhance India’s capability in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations.

Officials stated that the expansion would generate new employment opportunities, promote defence exports, and encourage public-private collaboration in the aerospace and defence sector.

India’s recent strides in defence indigenisation include the successful development of the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), Arjun Main Battle Tank, Akash missile system, and INS Vikrant — the nation’s first indigenous aircraft carrier.

The Defence Minister reiterated that India is committed to transforming its defence ecosystem into a global hub for design, development, and production of cutting-edge technologies, reaffirming the vision of “Make in India, Make for the World.”
